HEROES NEVER DIE, THEY JUST REDEPLOY IN HELL!

In the final days of WW2, a desperate Nazi war machine embraces the occult. The maniacal Major Strauss plans to open the gates of Hell itself. The Mad Devils are deployed to thwart this unhinged plan, but sometimes, heroism isn’t enough. Defeated and damned, the Mad Devils regroup in the underworld for one final mission.

SIX DEMONIC GI's, SIX SETS OF POWERS, SIX PATHS TO VICTORY

Cast into the abyss, the revenant Sergeant Jack Asher explores hell to reassemble his fallen squad. Each team member has been warped here, twisted and gifted demonic powers. Your expert crew are now armed with elemental and ethereal magics. Master them all and finish your fight.

FIGHT FIRE WITH HELLFIRE

It’ll take more than guns to smash the Nazi’s demonic ambitions. You’ll need the most chthonic weapons you can get your hands on and enough magic to light up the stygian void. Collect demonic crystals to empower weapons, develop your powers, and earn experience through violence.

HELL ITSELF: MORE THAN FIRE AND BRIMSTONE

The netherworld is a strange and varied place. Large parts are a perpetually-burning wasteland, others are twisted reflections of the mortal world, dense with choking overgrowth, frozen by sombre winds or fortified by damned Nazi legions.

NAZIS: WORTH KILLING TWICE JUST TO MAKE SURE

Hell was bad enough before WWII. Now it’s a warzone, populated with undead, ravenous demons and a legion of internal Nazis. They didn’t get the message when they died the first time - time to repeat the lesson, loud and clear.

There seems to be an audio glitch when shooting guns for me, sometimes it'll be fine but other times it'll be a very grating noise which sounds a bit like when you plug a live speaker into an audio jack. I wanna give this game a proper try, but unless this audio bug is fixed I can't really because it's too distracting and annoying.

That's weird.  We haven't seen this one before.  Is it using Asher or another character?

Either of the starting characters. Looks like the noise is when the bullet makes contact with an enemy, it's a lot louder than the regular shooting noise, and very jarring

Found it!  Fix incoming!

Awesome, thanks!

Ok, patch pushed up!  Should be live shortly.  Thanks for letting us know!

I am getting a black screen on starting the game if I use the version downloaded through the itch.io installer, and if I directly download the game from itch.io through my browser, any attempts to unzip the files fails as the game asks for exabytes of space.

How do I resolve this issue?

We're not aware of any problem currently on starting the game.  I double checked the download from itch and it's running fine on this end.  I have a patch going out tomorrow with some unrelated fixes so you may want to try uninstalling and reinstalling tomorrow evening when the new version is live.  Otherwise, I came across this threat relating in general to games created with Unity that hopefully can help you out.  https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/1480982971174752598/

Have a look and let us know!

I tried the solution in the Steam thread and none of them worked. I also checked if my antivirus, audio settings, video driver, or codecs where causing a problem. After going through the updates and checking the settings, Mad Devils still launched to a black screen with the game's cursor.

I played the Mad Devils demo on Steam shortly after it appeared, and the demo ran fine. Are there significant software differences between the demo and the full game? What redistributables do I need?

There are a number of important changes that we made to the game since the demo was initially released.  I've just push up a new build now that'll just take a couple of minutes to process.

Do you see the intro cinematics or the main menu?  Do you get that far, or is it on starting a new game that you're seeing a black screen with the cursor?

I still only see a black screen with a cursor.

Do you see the cutscenes and menu before that?  Does it just go to a black screen when you press the button to start a new game, or do you never get to the Main Menu?

Are there any full auto weapons the player can obtain and use?

Different characters have different primary weapons.  Harris is the only character to have a full auto weapon (a M1917 Browning).  Spending Blood Shards on your Weapons in the weapon menu can upgrade your primary weapon's stats such as reload speed, magazine capacity, etc, while slotting Blood Shards in the Elemental slot can fundamentally alter the way the primary weapon behaves.  Also, successfully hitting the Active Reload target when reloading a weapon will provide a damage boost to your next clip.

Some characters have slower firing weapons, so don't be stingy about using their Devil Powers to compensate.

Cheers!

Kyle

You sold me when I heard my last name in your trailer. Is it wrong to cheer on Major Strauss?

Probably.  :)

I'm trying to play the game but it just takes me to the steam page when attempt to run it.  It does look really cool though!

Sorry, can't tell where else to try to get help for this.

Ah!  I pushed an update today and needed to disable all of Steam's plugins on the build.  Clearly that didn't happen.  I'll have a fix for this tomorrow morning.  It should automatically update once it's up.  Sorry about that!

I couldn't go to bed without fixing this.  :)

Corrected the issue and pushed it.  Itch.io needs a bit to process the patch but it should be good to go within a few minutes here.

Sorry about that.  Thanks for letting us know!
